CHASCo Membership Meetings 2024-2025
CHASCo meetings educate and inform its members about new and pressing issues in the field of campus health and safety, including issues of substance use and misuse and violence prevention. You will receive an updated agenda for each meeting after you are registered.

Professional Development:Emmanuel Mejeun, Director of APSU’s Full Spectrum Learning,and Jenna Leigh Campbell Field, Full Spectrum’s Support Specialist, will be joining CHASCo’s upcoming meeting on February 21 to talk about the ways that those working in the field of higher education can interact and support students who are neurodiverse. They will cover topics that explore the implications of neurodiversity as it intersects with Title IX, Campus Safety and Security, Student Conduct, and Student Affairs. Emmanuel and Jenna draw from years of experience, research, and field work in neurodiversity and hope to provide valuable insight and tools to CHASCo.

Join us for a virtual CHASCo Chat, on January 24, 2025, at 10am Central Time. This discussion will be focused on the development and enhancement of substance use prevention and mental health promotion programming on college campuses. This session will bring together higher education professionals to share innovative ideas, effective strategies, and best practices for fostering wellness within campus communities.

Friday, March 7 from 10:00-11:30am Central
How can you creatively connect students to the issue of sexual violence and move them to action? How can you influence their behaviors? In this session, we’ll explore behavioral science frameworks designed to motivate your community, deepen engagement, and build essential skills, all while getting people excited about prevention. You’ll leave the training with actionable strategies to make behavior change easier and more likely to happen.
This session will be facilitated by Mary Sue Savage and Shelley Magallanes from Recognize Violence, Change Culture (RVCC).

Join us for a CHASCo Chat session on Friday, October 18th at 11:00 AM Central. In this CHAT, our colleagues from The Gambling Clinic will provide valuable insights into sports betting and gambling. We will focus on the prevalence of gambling in Tennessee, relevant legislation, and the intersections between gambling, substance use, and student well-being. Participants will explore how sports betting affects campus life, the potential impacts on students, and the resources available to address these challenges. Title IX Discussion
Join us for an informal discussion on Title IX on August 19th at 1:00 Central. During this CHAT, we will discuss the events of this past summer and the impact on our institutions and staff. We will also share how individual campuses are planning for the future. If you would like to submit a question for the group, please submit it through your Zoom registration. We will share all questions for an open discussion. This session will not be recorded, and no information disclosed should be construed as legal advice. This session will be co-facilitated by our Chair, Dr. Sylvia Gray (Sewanee) and Past Chair, Rachael Brooks (Bethel University).

Partners in Prevention
Partners in Prevention is CHASCo’s annual prevention training event, bringing together Alcohol and Other Drug (AOD) professionals from across the state for two days of insightful discussions, informative workshops, and networking opportunities. Each year, the event focuses on a theme relevant to current challenges and innovations in the field of campus prevention.
